Fundraiser
We are seeking volunteers whose main responsibility is reaching out to organizations & requesting for donations. This also involves creating presentations informing potential sponsors about the GSC Foundation to garner interest and show the benefits of donating. Moreover, fundraisers would work to host fundraising events in an effort to raise funds for our organization's activities.
Time Commitment: Approximately 6 hrs/week
Location/Address: The majority of the work done in this position would be done remotely/online. Exceptions include attending events or meeting with representatives from other organizations and/or charities.
Other Requirements: Minimum age of 17, experience with networking and fundraising (preferred)

Big Brothers Community Mentor
Our Big Brothers Community Program pairs you with a Little Buddy based on personality and shared interests to build a supportive one-to-one relationship based on trust, connection, and fun!
Our matches spend two or more hours once per week doing free or low-cost activities they enjoy most and are paired for a minimum of one year.
Time Commitment: Flexible schedule
Flexible schedule. Volunteers meet weekly for 2 or more hours with a Mentee on weekends or afterschool for one year.

Food Bank Warehouse Volunteer
Volunteers help us prepare fresh, healthy, and wholesome food hampers that include fruits, vegetables, dairy, proteins, and grains. Duties may include sorting produce, packing and distributing hampers, crushing boxes, organizing the pantry, cleaning the warehouse, and other miscellaneous tasks.
Time Commitment: 4 hrs/volunteer shift
Weekly Volunteer Shifts:
Tuesday from 9:30 am-1:30 pm and 2:00 pm-6:00 pm
Thursdays from 8:30 am - 12:30 pm and 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm
Location/Address: 2650 Slocan Street, Vancouver
Other Requirements: Must be at least 19+ years old and be able to move around in a warehouse environment.

Event Volunteer
Your roles and responsibilities will change dependent on the event that you sign up for!
Some examples would be:
Provide information about RMH BC and ways to get involved (ex. volunteer/donate)
Engage with event attendees in fundraising activities or activations such as enter-to win prizes, raffles, auctions or donation collections
Help support with our signature events (Golf tournaments, Night to Dream Gala)
Represent RMH BC as an ambassador while at community events (ex. Boundary Bay Marathon, Vancouver Triathlon)
Time Commitment: Events usually run at least once a month
Location/Address: Various areas throughout Vancouver and the lower mainland
Other Requirements: You must be over the age of 18 to volunteer for RMH BC & Yukon

In-School Mentoring
Our In-School Mentoring Program pairs you with one elementary school student who you share common interests with.
Matches spend one-hour once per week together on school grounds doing non-academic activities such as playing sports, games, creating art or just hanging out at the playground. Our matches are paired for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school-year.
Time Commitment: 1 hour per week during school hours (weekdays between 10am and 3pm) for the duration, or remainder, of the academic school-year.

By volunteering with LBN, volunteers take on significant responsibilities and develop leadership, communication, and organization skills. You will have the opportunity to work directly with one child and develop a supportive mentoring relationship that will help foster building their learning skills, self-esteem, and a positive attitude.

Learning Buddies Network is a non-profit organization dedicated to helping elementary school students develop essential literacy and math skills through free one-on-one, after-school mentoring in a fun group setting. We reach children who otherwise would not have the help they need. Our goals are to enhance self-esteem through improvement in academic skills and to ignite a passion for learning in a safe and caring environment.
Thank-a-Thon Volunteer
Volunteers take part in calling and thanking our donors who financially support or donate to Covenant House. This is usually a 4 x two-hour session planned around the academic year that take place every month or so depending on our organization's needs. Students will use CHV phones and will be briefed on how to conduct the call. All information required for each call is given beforehand so no student will be left in the dark not knowing what to do! A certificate of volunteer hours is given upon completion of the course.

We are a non-profit organization serving homeless youth aged 16-25 in downtown Vancouver. Covenant House helps youth who are seeking a way out of homelessness whether through managing addictions or mental health, learning basic life skills, finding stable housing as well as helping youth meet some very basic needs.
Game On! - Group Mentoring
Have fun, de-stress, and feel like a kid again with our Group Mentoring program, Game On!
Through fun activity-based play, volunteers provide youth with the knowledge to make informed decisions about a range of healthy lifestyle practices.
Groups meet once weekly for 90 minute sessions during weekday afternoons at schools/community centres and engage in life skills, communication, and social-emotional discussions to encourage healthy life- long habits. The program is led by 2-3 mentors to a group of 10-12 children and youth in grades 4-7.
Time Commitment: Once weekly for 90-minute sessions weekdays between 2:30pm and 4:30pm over 8-10 weeks (offered every season).
Location/Address: Schools and Community Centres across Surrey, White Rock, Delta, Richmond, Port Moody, Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, New Westminster, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Burnaby and Vancouver.

Mentoring with Math
Our Mentoring with Math Program is designed to strengthen the impact of tutoring by adding in the element of mentorship.
Volunteers support children in grades 3 to 7 who demonstrate a need for assistance in math at their grade level.
You’ll meet once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during afternoons over a 10 week period, and work on numeracy, activities, and games. No previous experience with math is necessary for volunteers and free training is provided.
Time Commitment: Once-a-week for 90 minute sessions during weekday afternoons over a 10 week period (every season).
Location/Address: Virtual opportunity or in-person in Surrey
Other Requirements:
Adults aged 18+, inclusive of male, female, trans, and gender diverse individuals.

We are seeking volunteers whose main responsibilities include actively finding events for the GSC Foundation to attend and network along with reaching out to other charities to establish relationships and potential collaborations. Additionally, Public Relations Coordinators would work to connect with large companies to potentially obtain sponsorships and support through funds or applicable resources. Moreover, this position entails contacting news outlets, journalists, or bloggers to secure coverage for our organization (e.g. inviting them to write an article about our foundation and/or film one of our presentations).
Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hrs/week

Educational Speaker/Presenter
We are currently seeking volunteers to help us deliver educational presentations/seminars to various senior communities in the Lower Mainland. As an educational speaker, you will play a crucial role in:
Educating seniors about the dangers of financial fraud and providing tips on how to recognize and avoid scams.
Engaging with seniors and answering their questions to ensure they feel supported and informed.
*No prior presenting experience required! Training and preparatory materials provided!

Grant Writer
We are seeking individuals whose main responsibility is finding grants that the Gal Senior Care Foundation is eligible for and then writing grant proposals. This also involves researching the grants to understand their purpose, what they want, and how we can fit with their goals. Occasionally, you'll email and schedule meetings with the people offering the grants to ask questions and get more information.
Please be aware that accepted volunteers for this role must NOT use ChatGPT for grant writing, as the majority of organizations issuing grants will utilize AI checkers. Any detection of AI writing in our grant proposals would reflect terribly on our organization.
